Their First Real MUni Ride (Mountain Unicycling)
She’s been on one of these trails before, but very briefly, noobily, and quite uninterested in finding another trail – her unicycle passion was the asphalt paths and empty strip mall parking lots, so that’s what we did instead, with me learning all sorts of new riding skills along the way, as I had never had a riding parter with such a tiny wheel before – Look at the feeling of accomplishment in their faces, over and over and over, a sense of accomplishment they will feel many of, on every ride, for decades. They’ll remember the slight incline, or decline, or twist in the trail, or stick in the way…maybe it doesn’t make them crash next time. Maybe it does. It’s funly amazing

Our New Three Best Syllables
After about an hour over two days and about 300 meters of the most very basic of hardback single track off road trails, we all know that if we are interested in the other one going for some exercise, bonding, excitement, goal setting, goal achieving, good time, all we have to say now is, ‘MUni ride?’
Hand Holding
I mentioned to the the 10 and 12 year old how happy I am to help them out by holding their hands any time they need as we missed out on the handholding when they were infants. Or did we? Instead of having me dragging them around by the hand to places, during places, and coming home from places, they were developing into the incredible people they were going to be. Why control them with a skin leash instead of keeping them interested and alert to others as just another of the fun things you do? Holding infants and toddlers hands: 1/5 stars. Do not recommend.

Unicycling – Destination OR the Journey (as I tell the kids ALL THE TIME)
Do you remember how fun it is to throw a large rock in the water? Did you see those turkeys? Sometimes it’s deer, or a dead raccoon, sometimes it’s a family of geese, or ducks. Or a fallen tree that can be lugged to the water. Take as many breaks as you want, who’s tracking distance and time??
