Unschool Experiment G2R

March 10, 2019

“Hey, did you both know raisins come from grapes?”

The six year old knew that already, it was new to the four year old. I was holding a handful of grapes, one a little more wrinkled than the others and other than being brushed off as ‘disgusting’ I offered up an experiment idea.

I told them I knew that raisins came from grapes, but I didn’t really know how they did it. Were they dehydrated with machines? Were all sorts of things added to them? Or was it simply drying out grapes??

“We have a heater, wanna try that out?”

After a few days in front of the heater, (this image is from day four) I decided to do a little research on raising raisins including this link on making your own raisins in the oven.

FYI: A wrinkly grape can be exciting!!

We're an unschooling family in London, Ontario. Wherever we are, whatever we are doing, that's what they are learning right now. Children are able to absorb information while they play. Mine play all day long. #playResearchRepeat
